    Try Meditation ( it’s Free!)

    Meditation is an approach that can relieve many problems by the way you think and reflect.

    Most people won’t be bothered to take time out for meditation, but actually you don’t need to!! It can be done anywhere and at  anytime.

    Meditation may seem like a waste of time to many, but it has many benefits which should not be overlooked.

    ( to name but a few)

    • Good for high blood pressure.
    • Decreases muscle tension.
    • Helps with weight loss.
    • Reduces anxiety.
    • Increases energy.
    • Builds self confidence
    • Helps concentration.
    • Improved memory.
    • Helps you act constructively.
    • Increases listening skills.
    • Helps stop bad habits.
    • Can cure headaches.
    • Helps keep things in perspective.
    • Helps change attitude.
    • Helps you live in the present.

    So just be quiet, (anywhere) and really think about your breathing, this stops you thinking your ‘thoughts’….this is the start. Really feel what the breathing does to your body, where it moves, from your nostrils to your chest, how your tummy expands etc.  Once you start drifting back to your thoughts (this will happen) go straight back to your breathing, it will take practise, be patient.

    Observe how the rest of your body feels, be aware. Is it hot ? sore? just get a feeling of awareness, and accept it, do not react to a specific feeling, move on to the next.

    This is a very basic ‘breathing meditation, but there are many books to buy or classes to attend which will show you how meditation can be used positively to conquer all sorts of problems life throws at you..

    Drink more!! 

    Is drinking water good for the skin? Well this is a well debated subject… It makes sense to me though, that it won’t hurt.

    All our organs need water and skin is an organ, hydrated organs behave better!

    Drinking enough water  is key to maintaining good health.  We lose water when we go to the toilet, by sweating and through respiration.  If we exercise we lose a lot more. This needs to be replaced.

    A lot of the water we need will come from food, about 20%, but we need to ‘find’ the rest from drinking. Whilst water is the best for rehydration as it is calorie and sugar free, herbal teas, fruit/veg juices can also be beneficial. Too much caffeine from coffee or tea can have negative results, such as a fast heartbeat ,or  a jittery feeling, so these should be limited.

    Drinking enough water helps your body function properly, keeping your temperature regulated, removing waste, protecting joints and organs, and helping with the transportation of nutrients and oxygen to your vital organs, skin will look younger and  concentration improved!!

    If your body is short of fluids apart from being thirsty, you can suffer from pains in joints and muscles, have headaches, suffer from constipation and have dry, tight, flaky skin.

    Don’t  push yourself to drink , just get into a habit and be aware of the benefits. A good guide is a glass  with every meal, one in between meals one first thing in the morning and one before bed.

    As the skin is the last of the organs to receive water, getting what’s left over! It is useful to give it a boost, applying  a moisturiser will help with hydration. After a shower when the skin is still porous  absorbsion will be better.

    Decluttering your mind.

    The wardrobe is a mess, the sock drawer is full of odd socks, more and more is going under the bed. I bet you often decide ‘it’s time to sort things out’!!!…..but, have you thought of all the extra baggage that’s in your mind?? so what about getting that in order?

    Signs that your mind needs a tidy up.

    • Do you get distracted easily.
    • Are you forgetful.
    • Do you run around in circles, and still not get anything done.
    • Do you feel as if you aren’t taking thing in when talking/listening to someone/thing.
    • Does your mind work overtime.

    Remember a mind full of clutter, with too much going on can lead to stress.

    What is taking up your time mentally, and is it serving you wisely??

    If not, either deal with it or get rid of it…..make SPACE to FOCUS on life again.

    • It is useful to write things down, by physically throwing a problem in the bin is helpful. With whatever is left, you can create a plan. Have a specific time everyday for this sorting process.
    • Do something enjoyable everyday, just for yourself, even if it is only for 10 minutes…..never feel guilty as this will lead to a nicer you.     DECLUTTER.

    As we are a Beauty Company, why not start with clearing out your make up bag or cabinet with products which are out of date, OR you simply don’t use….don’t be sentimental!!

    Old beauty products can carry a lot of bacteria,which could lead to infection and skin problems.

    • Powders,concealers and lip balms are anhydrous (contain no water) so can last a few years.
    • Cleansers and moisturisers often contain fatty acids, which can turn rancid, so discard after 6 months.
    • Mascara…the mascara tube can be a breeding ground for the growth of  bacteria, so discars after 3 months.
    • Eye/lip pencils. If you sharpen these regularly should last a couple of years.
    • Foundations, one year. It is best to use with a sponge as fingers can carry bacteria to and from the bottle.
    • Store makeup, lotions and potions in a cool, dry environment…NOT a bathroom!

    Decluttering also has a therapeutic side to it. Simplify your environment,get rid of excess, feel lighter. Clutter can cause stress and disorganisation, both unnecessary life factors.

    Charity shops could also benefit from your discarded clutter, so as well as achieving a sense of accomplishment you are giving to a good cause.
