Methods of Hair Removal.

ELECTROLYSIS.

Electrolysis uses a technique using a high frequency, short wave diathermy current which uses heat as the force to destroy the hair. The current is directed through a fine needle and discharged at a fraction of a second ,this produces heat which in turn cauterizes the live hair follicle, resulting in the hair being destroyed. The needle needs to be accurate and probe each hair follicle individually. After each hair has been targeted it will be removed with tweezers. This method of hair removal is slow but can offer a permanent solution to the problem. It is important to be consistent with treatments , at the beginning a patient may need to be treated weekly or fortnightly. At the consultation stage the length of treatment will be discussed .

LASER.

Laser hair removal is a very quick and efficient method of hair removal; the treatment isn’t painful and won’t damage surrounding skin, suitable even for sensitive skin types.

The unique Ellipse IPL system uses short safe bursts of light emitted from a flash lamp to remove unwanted hair from all body sites in minutes. The light is carefully filtered in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin. Hair that contains pigment (melanin) will absorb the light and convert it into heat energy which will then destroy the hair follicle rendering it unable to produce a new hair.

Hair grows in three different cycles and the system can only successfully treat hair during its growth stage. Therefore it is often necessary to undergo a course of 3 – 6 treatments ensuring that you leave 6 weeks between each session.

Ellipse IPL is a medically tested system and at Beauty Haven we are registered and closely monitored by the RQIA (regulation and quality  improvement authority).
