Skin around the eyes displays expression and emotions that are part of our individuality. Proper care of this area is vital and can provide long term benefits. Changes to the skin around the eyes can have functional, cosmetic and psychological ramifications. Since the eyes are the focal point of the face, having bags, bulges and wrinkles can not only interfere with vision, they can give you a tired, sad appearance.

The skin around the eyes is ten times thinner than the skin on the face. As we age, skin loses its elasticity and becomes even thinner due to a breakdown of collagen. This can be further aggravated by sun exposure, smoking, and other environmental exposures. The skin of the eye contour is constantly moving, blinking alone produces 10,000 movements per day! Other facial movements and expressions such as smiles, squinting, and stress can also affect the eye area, creating fine lines. Under eye puffiness can be made worse by salty foods, allergies and internal dehydration. Rubbing and tugging of the delicate skin under the eye due to allergies, crying, eye makeup removal and insertion and removal of contact lenses can contribute to sagging of the this area. The skins elasticity is similar to a rubber band – constant tugging and pulling eventually causes loss of elasticity. Because the tissue around the eyes has very few oil glands, it lacks the natural moisture present on other parts of the body.

Beauty Haven do a range of Dermalogica and Jane Iredale products for the eyes, which can help treat various issues and skin types.

Face mapping skin analysis (with the use of scanner)

Face Mapping is a revolutionary approach to skin analysis developed by The International Dermal Institute exclusively for Dermalogica. Using the zones and the Dermalogica Face Map as a guide, the therapist is able to conduct an inch-by-inch; methodical analysis of the skin to make sure the treatment suits each your skin’s individual needs, depending on your concerns. We will also chat to you about your current skincare regime and give you all important tips to try out at home along with some useful samples!

Face Mapping skin analysis divides the face into 14 distinct zones, each with its own set of potential problems and unique needs. The 14 zones are as follows: zones 1+3 (forehead), zone 2 (in-between the eyebrows),  zones 4 + 10 (ears), zones 5+9 (cheeks), zones 6 + 8 (eyes), zone 7 (nose),  zones 11 + 13 (jaw line), zone 12 (chin), zone 14 (neck and chest). By examining each separate area the therapist will be able to prescribe essential home care and treatment of different conditions that usual include: pigmentation, acne, oiliness/dryness, milia etc. Your skin changes all the time and no single area of your skin is usually the same as the rest of your face, therefore a good skin analysis is a vital step to a good, healthy skin.

During our in depth skin mapping analysis we also use long wave ultra-violet  skin scanner that lets us see different problem areas as different colours. Your Dermalogica skin care specialist will explain each zone to you and what each single color means for you to get to know your skin better and outline specific skin conditions.  Some of the conditions include: sun damage, pigmentation, blackheads/congestion, dehydration, oily skin, dry skin. It will reveal the full or ‘true’ condition and thus allowing for an accurate skin analysis and prescriptive treatment to be given in order to achieve a perfect complexion. You will learn how to treat your skin the professional way in order to keep your skin healthy and protected.

We also have the access to a Dermalogica skin bar where the therapist can show you different products, how they work and how to use them to achieve best results!

Skin analysis usually takes approximately 20 minutes and costs £12 per session, which is redeemable against any Dermalogica product or treatment!

Special Offer! ! ! Buy 3 for 2 on any Dermalogica product between 26th and 31st of August! ! !

    Dermalogica Revitalising Eye Treatment

One of the first places where the visible effects of aging are visible is around your eyes. Skin in this area is particularly delicate and thin – becoming even thinner as we age – it is especially vulnerable to unsightly age-related changes in the appearance including dark circles, ‘crow’s feet’, and bags or swelling under or around the eyes. However scientific studies have shown that it is possible to remedy the physiological causes behind dark circles and puffiness while improving aging skin.

Eye muscles move 100.000 times a day at least and this is what accelerates the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and eye bags.

Dermalogica’s revitalising eye treatment will focus on improving the skin texture, brighten tired eyes, firm and tone the skin. This treatment combats fine lines associated with dehydration around the eyes makes it appear younger and relaxed. Gentle exfoliation will remove dulling debris, pressure point massage with the use of a revitalising mix enriched with orange and sandalwood essential oils that will help to deeply nourish and regenerate the skin. Soothing mask enriched with hyaluronic acid will be also applied during the treatment to improve elasticity and hydrate the skin.

After the treatment your skin will feel tighter, brighter and smother.  Extra care need to be taken when choosing skin care products for the eye area as they need to contain gentle, non-irritating compounds that reduce the appearance of wrinkles (exfoliants), along with a wide range of vitamins, antioxidants, and skin-plumping substances are ideal choices. One of the key Dermalogica products available in our salon is the Multivitamin power firm from Age Smart range (RRP 37.10) enriched with silicones that melt gently into the skin to help diminish fine lines and smooth texture as well as vitamins A, C and E that accelerate skin’s natural repair process, strengthen it and improve elasticity with the regular use. Your Dermalogica skin therapist will give you the best eye care advice!  The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes and costs £30 and we do recommend a course of 6 treatments for optimum results!

    *Hydroxy Acid Dermalogica Facial Peel

Facial peel is a treatment based on removing dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. It can also increase the thickness of deeper layers of the epidermis – promoting its firmness. Various hydroxy acids are applied topically onto the skin, for moisturising and removing dead skin cells, for treating acne and improving appearance of scars, for improving the appearance of sun-damaged skin, as well as firming and smoothing your complexion. Hydroxy acids are also used to treat excessively dry skin conditions and a condition that causes darkening of the skin, most commonly known as a ‘the mask of pregnancy’ (melasma).

Either performed as a course – often before an important event, such as a wedding – or slipped into a facial to boost results, peels promise fantastic skin benefits, from whittling away lines, to evening out skin tone, to decongesting pores and generally rejuvenating your skin!  They are suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin and all age groups can be treated. In preparation for a hydroxy acid peel remember to moisturise well and use a sunscreen daily to prevent sun damage. Starting a better skin care regimen now, will help you to maintain fantastic results that last!

After the treatment you skin will feel tighter, smoother and you may experience some mild redness. It might be followed by mild scaling that ends within 3-7 days. You will use a mild non-abrasive cleanser for 5 days and protect your skin with an adequate sunscreen of SPF30 or higher. It In addition, it is best to avoid prolonged sun exposure.

A single treatment is available at a price of £45 and lasts approximately 1 hour. For maximum results we recommend a series of 6 Hydroxy Acid Peels at a special price of £225.

    MICRODERMABRASION.(ECOPEEL)

A cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells.

Your skin is made up of two main layers, the epidermis and dermis. The epidermis is the outside layer, consisting of dead skin cells, on top of maturing skin cells. The top layer of the epidermis is the stratum corneum which acts as a barrier between the ‘elements’ and the lower skin layers, it keeps all but the smallest molecules from getting through. When you put creams on your face, some moisture will pass through the stratum corneum. This layer is where blemishes and fine lines are found. The action of microdermabrasion takes place at this level.

The idea of the microdermabrasion is to break up the stratum corneum, the body interprets this as injury and replaces the lost skin cells with healthy ones. The skins surface is improved. Some of the skin’s visible imperfections are gone or improved, such as sun damage, blemishes and fine lines. Creams are more effective as they can now penetrate the lower layers.

After treatment your skin may be red for a short time and as some moisture will have been lost it is important to moisturise.

This treatment is not suitable for people with active rosacea, broken capillaries, active acne.

Beauty Haven offer Ecopeel Microdermabrasion, this treatment takes 1 hour. Whilst not necessary we recommend a course of Six, if you opt for the course you get your sixth Facial Free.

PEEL OFF THE LAYERS FOR PERFECTION.

Facial Peels are one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world. The women of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome used the method to achieve their beautiful skin.

Beauty Haven offer Mesoestetic peels, we have four different acids with different graduations depending on the needs of your skin.

The peel is applied to the skin in order to strip off the top layer, leaving a fresh new layer. This will help eradicate or improve different skin issues, such as, scarring due to acne, fine lines, wrinkles and uneven pigmentation. Peeling off the layers will also eliminate clogged pores and black heads, the skin texture will be improved and it will feel fresh and much smoother.

Being realistic, whilst the acid peel is not painful it isn’t a relaxing treatment. The facial will take about 40 minutes, and most patients will feel slightly stingy for a few minutes until a cooling masque is put on to the skin, the skin may feel flushed for a little while, though, this will clear very quickly. Mild peeling/flaking of the skin will begin a few days after the treatment.

Facial Peels return your face to a new clear skin radiating softness and smoothness.
