Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Don’t forget the sunscreen!
If it’s a healthy glow of pink or beautiful bronze your skin is damaged.
Too much sun exposure will increase your risk of skin cancer and premature ageing, both caused by ultraviolet A (long wave) and B (short wave) radiation. UVA rays penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, causing our skin to age more quickly, the UVB rays are associated with sunburn and cancers. It doesn’t take you to be a life long sun worshipper, even an individual with a couple of bad sun burns are all at risk of skin cancer.
It is unfortunate that most of us only take note of this when it is too late, wrinkles appear or skin cancer is diagnosed.
A simple way to avoid this is to wear a sunscreen from an early age, even though the most significant UVB rays are during the summer months they can burn and damage the skin all year round.
UVA rays are present all year round with relatively equal intensity during all daylight hours, throughout the year and can penetrate clouds and glass.
SPF (sun protection factor) This is not the amount of protection, but rather how long it will take for the rays to cause redness…an SPF of 15 will take 15 times longer to redden the skin than without a sunscreen. SPF 15 screens 93% of the sun’s rays, SPF 30 screens 97%.
Call Beauty Haven and have your skin scanned, this service allows the therapist to see what damage has been done to the deeper areas of the skin and what the best treatment would be .
If your skin has been damaged try the photo rejuvenation facial at beauty haven, this evens out pigmentation and can get rid of sun spots.
