TOP 5 BEAUTY TRAVEL TIPS

For some women flying is a total breeze, like they have just walked out of the beauty salon , yes Victoria Beckham , I am referring to you! Myself on the other hand flying is a total nightmare, I do genuinely believe that airline travel literally sucks the youth out of me!!

H2O

When flying water is an in flight essential, and the teeny tiny cups they bring around during the food service is simply not enough.

Every passenger on the plane breathes in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide, in order to bring in more oxygen, fresh air is pumped into the cabin. As you can imagine, the air at such high altitudes has very little moisture making the cabin air extremely dry, drier than dry and it just circulates around the cabin, looking for moisture to steal, usually from your skin and hair.

I would recommend you to try and drink 1 litre of water for every 5 hours of flying, and just like when you are at home, sipping water constantly keeps your skin and hair and body from feeling hungover post-flight.

Take an empty water bottle and fill it up in the terminal before taking off.

Also a refreshing hydrating spray is a brilliant product to have on a plane, my favourite is DERMALOGICA MULTI ACTIVE TONER £31  as it refreshes and hydrates the skin whilst smoothing the surface and relieves your make up if you wearing any, if you are anything  like myself and have to have something on your face so you don’t feel totally exposed and naked!!

Sipping on Green Tea during a flight has great benefits also  due to its antioxidant properties.

DITCH THE FOUNDATION

We all know flying with a full face of makeup is terrible for our skin, but there is no chance of me leaving the house and wandering around an airport barefaced, not on your nelly!!

Alternative, if you simply can not leave the house without some foundation is to apply a primer first – a silicone based liquid or cream that puts a layer of protection between skin and your makeup. This will help your foundation and blush last longer and help keep your skin from becoming dehydrated.

DERMALOGICA SKIN PERFECT PRIMER SPF 30 is an excellent primer it smoothes  out fine lines, provides a neutral tint for visible luminosity, radiance and evens out your skin tone. An SPF30 is another great bonus!!

DERMALOGICA SKIN TINT is ideal to replace your base with a moisturiser that has a tint to it, so you don’t feel as exposed, it comes in 3 colours :- light, medium and dark.

HAIR

I know I have always felt rubbish after sitting in a small cramped seat for hours on end and by the end of a long flight or car journey my hair resembles that of Worzel Gummidge . What I find works a treat is rubbing some BUMBLE AND BUMBLE INVISIBLE OIL  through my hair to make it smooth and shiny, its a plane friendly bottle size and made of plastic that wont smash, I have to say it goes every where with me. You’ve got to start your trip with great hair!!

PRODUCTS THAT MULTI TASK

So you forgot your makeup remover/shaving cream/cuticle cream/moisturizer or simply you are trying to condense your beauty products to make packing that slight bit easier.  Let me say  Olive oil and Coconut oil are both effective, natural and gentle moisturizers that you can use on your skin and nails and they’re impressively good at breaking down makeup at the end of the day.

Both oils can be used to tame frizz and flyway’s  in your hair and can be mixed in a empty spray bottle with warm water ( turns the coconut oil into liquid) with lemon juice (lightens the hair) to be applied during the day.

PERK UP YOUR PEEPERS

If you are staying in a hotel or even a self cantering apartment, you can have a little mid-trip treat by keeping your eye cream in the mini-fridge. I love the FIRST AID BEAUTY EYE DUTY TRIPLE REMEDY because it has a unique stainless steel applicator tip that increases circulation and decreases puffy eyes.

A swollen face wont stand a chance!

So whether traveling by plane, train or automobile the art of getting there can wreak havoc on our skin and hair, so if you are planning or heading off for your summer holidays or a weekend  away break with friends or  family keep these tips in mind the next time you hit the road.

They will help your skin and hair stay in better shape, plus they should make you feel better during your travels too!
