ACNE – GET AN EXPERT OPINION

Acne is one of the most troublesome and common skin care problems for people around the world!

As a teenager I was blessed with great skin, I assumed when real life started it would be the same – blemish free and beautiful. Except it wasn’t!

At 37, I won’t venture far from my concealer and I have spent a small fortune on skin care and make up, as well as hours with doctors, dermatologists and facialists, trying to achieve the clear complexion I once had.

Today, my skin is not too bad (touch wood), yet I know what it’s like to feel the discomfort, embarrassment, expense and distress of adult acne. Honestly when you are worrying about spots and wrinkles, enough is enough.

Although most often associated with teenagers and the onset of puberty, the truth is you can get acne at any age (I know I was plagued with it from the age of 24). According to figures, I’m one of the growing number of adult acne sufferers, at last count, 54% of women over 25 had some facial acne. Another study puts cases for those aged 20-30 at 80%, with 5% finding their spots persist into their forties.

The British Skin Foundation recently surveyed 2,000 adult sufferers and found 635 had lowered self confidence while 20% felt a relationship had ended due to their skin problems and a worrying 20% said they had even contemplated or attempted suicide.

Having visible acne really affects peoples self esteem, daily functioning work and relationships.

While I cant deny it is comforting to know that I am not suffering alone, it is puzzling that we seem more spot prone than ever before, the major reason is the rise in STRESS LEVELS!

So what is acne, this skin disorder that has a self esteem crushing ability???

    WHAT IS ACNE?

Most of us are familiar with acne, even if we don’t know the specifics of what makes acne, knowing what can cause your acne is your first step in learning how to take control, so you can get rid of breakouts and get back to having clear skin!

Acne most commonly develops on the

Face  –  affects almost everyone with acne.

Back  –  affects more than 1/2 of people with acne.

Chest  –  affects about 15% of people with acne.

Acne occurs when the hair follicles (which every pore on your face is actually part of a follicle) becomes blocked with dead skin cells and oil. The mixture of oil and dead skin cells allow the bacteria to flourish inside that hair follicle instead of remaining on the skins surface were it normally resides without causing much trouble.

The bacteria then feeds on the debris in the follicle which in turn starts a domino effect by producing inflammatory chemicals and enzymes. This process attracts the white blood cells and produces inflammation.

Acne is first and foremost a inflammatory disorder and when treating it, its important to remember that anything you can do to reduce the inflammation will help acne heal faster – the reverse is true as well, making the inflammation worse will make your acne worse!

The next stage and development of acne is when the wall of the plugged follicle breaks down, causing the spilling of anything inside to nearby skin leading to lesions and pimples.

    DIFFERNENT TYPES OF SPOTS

There are 6 main types of spots caused by acne

Blackheads  –  small black or yellowish bumps that develop on the skin, they are not filled with dirt, but are black because the inner lining of the hair follicle produces colouring.

whiteheads  –  have a similar appearance to blackheads, but may be firmer and believe me wont empty when squeezed.

Papules  –  small red bumps that may feel tender or sore

Pustules  –  similar to papules, but have a white tip in the centre, caused by a build up of pus.

Nodules  –  large hard lumps that build up beneath the surface of the skin and can be painful

Cysts  –  the most severe type of spot caused by acne, they are large pus filled lumps that look similar to boils and carry the greatest risk of causing permanent scarring!!

    WHY TREAT ACNE?

The myths about acne are as common as the skin condition, one common myth is that you have to let acne run its course.

Dermatologists know that letting acne run its course is not always the best advice.

    Here’s why

    *  Without treatment, dark spots and permanent scars can appear on the skin as the acne clears.

    *  Treating acne often boasts a persons self esteem.

    *  Many effective treatments are now available.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I HAVE ACNE?

    *  Do consider the pill, certain types such as Yasmin can help with outbreaks of this kind. A low dose, long course of antibiotics may also be prescribed.

    *  Try anti-inflammatory, topical treatments containing benzoyl peroxide and  salicylic acid.

    *  Don’t squeeze them however tempting. You risk scarring and worsening the spot by pushing inflammation deeper into the surrounding tissue.

    *  Do speak to your GP, there are many options, for some the contraceptive pill can be effective, for severe cases, a dermatologist may prescribe a hormonal treatment called SPIRONOLACTONE, which reduces your skins oil production.

    *  Don’t use cleansing cloths, brushes and scrubs, I know I have in the past thinking “I’ll exfoliate those spots away”, yet any harsh treatment will only make the inflammation worse.

    *  For those really huge ones that are similar to boils, these are acne cysts – large pus filled lumps. They are the most extreme example of acne, distressing and definitely the most likely to cause scarring.

In this case do ask to be referred to a dermatologist –  the oral retinoid ROACCUTANE, it is very effective in severe cases, but can only be prescribed by dermatologists.

This works by reducing inflammation and sebum production, completely clearing acne in 60% of cases.

The catch, well it does have some severe side effects such as extreme dry skin resulting in nose bleeds, cracked lips and dry eyes.

Its important to know you are not alone and don’t close yourself away as there are options that you can take to treat and clear your acne leaving you feeling you have your life back and with confidence!!

Beauty Haven also provide a range of skin treatments that are clinically proven to be effective for treating clients with active acne and acne scarring, any further questions please contact

  2. ELECTROLYSIS VS LASER HAIR REMOVAL FOR MEN

Comments Off on ELECTROLYSIS VS LASER HAIR REMOVAL FOR MEN

ELECTROLYSIS VERSUS LASER HAIR REMOVAL FOR MEN

It used to be hair removal was strictly a female thing, well unless you were a body builder, cyclist, swimmer or even a male stripper/dancer, then chances were your body hairs remained intact.

    NOT SO ANYMORE!!

Now I know in general most men don’t necessarily want it all removed but they do want it at least thinned out on their backs and chest. So electrolysis versus laser hair removal, which is better?? Well I have to say these are the two BEST methods for permanently getting rid of hair, or at least reducing the amount.

Below I have listed advantages and disadvantages regarding both methods and depending on your needs, wishes and concerns you can decide which method is best suited for you.

IF YOU WANT PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL

Firstly, electrolysis is the only FDA recognized method for permanent hair removal, as opposed to laser/IPL  treatment which offers you permanent hair reduction up to 80%.

So if you are looking to eliminate unwanted hairs, electrolysis is for you, the only downside is that I would say it is only feasible for small areas or single hairs as electrolysis involves treating each hair individually making it very time consuming.

So for those males wishing to treat your back and chest or other large areas of dense hairs I would encourage you to consider laser/IPL  as electrolysis would be impractical and hugely expensive.

WHEN YOUR SKIN OR HAIR COLOUR IS NOT SUITABLE

Electrolysis is colour blind, I say this as its suitable for all hair and skin types, whereas with laser/IPL they work best for those clients with light skin and dark coarse hair as the light is attracted to the pigment and uses the pigment to travel the energy to the hair follicle.

Therefore if you are a client with light blonde, red, white or grey hair you would be best to consider electrolysis for your choice of treatment, to enable your treatment to be effective.

The same applies for those males with dark or tanned skins, the laser/IPL  treatment could not be carried out due to the risk of light energy being absorbed into the skin and causing severe burns.

IF YOU NEED TO TARGET HAIRS ACCURATELY

Electrolysis is the option to take when you are looking to treat hairs individually as with electrolysis you are using a probe with a very fine sterile needle and inserting that probe into each individual hair follicle.

Due to the way Electrolysis is performed it is therefore ideal for those individual or stray hairs. A great example would be an Eyebrow hair removal as for this part of the body it requires detailed precision, electrolysis would offer you that whereas laser/IPL  would not have the necessary precision and wouldn’t be recommended to treat hairs individually.

    HAIRS FROM MOLES

Electrolysis is a safe and approved method for the removal of hairs growing from healthy moles as long as the therapist has a letter from your Dr/GP or Dermatologist stating that the mole is a healthy.

Whereas laser/IPL methods are not currently suitable for use on hairs growing from moles due to the pigment from the mole itself and could lead to a high risk of burns.

WHEN YOU HAVE A TATTOO ON THE TREATMENT AREA

How fashionable are tattoos today?? With the celebrities of high regards and icons like David Beckham most men are sporting one or two.

If you have a tattoo on the area that you want treated then laser/IPL is certainly not the method for you due to the dark pigment within a tattoo will only absorb the laser light energy and can lead to quite a serious burn.

In this case your option would be limited to electrolysis.

    THE BOTTOM LINE

If you have dark skin or light hair you can not rely on the laser/IPL as your choice of hair removal for either safety reasons (dark skin could create burns) or optimal results (light hair no colour = no pigment for the  energy to travel). As electrolysis is colour blind this method would be best suited for you.

Yet if you have light skin and dark hair then you can choose between either options.

Laser is the generally less expensive of the two in retrospect of treating  a larger area like the back or chest , it also requires less time and treatments as it covers large areas quickly whereas electrolysis treats each follicle at a time.

If your main concern is facial hair or the hair is something that you want permanently removed then I would recommend electrolysis as it is the ONLY permanent method available to date.

Laser might be a better choice if you would be happy with most of the hair removed or for the hair being finer and lighter.

    DISCOMFORT/PAIN

LASER  –  The laser will produce a slight burning sensation that is said to feel like the snap of a rubber band against the skin.

ELECTROLYSIS – there is some slight discomfort with electrolysis more like a stingy heat sensation.

For any males that are interested in a more permanent hair removal method and have any further questions regarding electrolysis or laser please don’t hesitate to contact the team at Beauty Haven who would be more than willing to advise.

  3. DARE 2 BARE OUR GUIDE TO PERFECT SUMMER FEET

Comments Off on DARE 2 BARE OUR GUIDE TO PERFECT SUMMER FEET

When we are stuffing our feet into boots and socks all winter, it was no biggie to ignore the state of our feet, sure who was looking anyway?

We didn’t have to worry about strappy sandals giving us blisters and since we definitely were not walking about bare foot with a chance of snow on the ground, the poor state of our sorry feet were the least of our worries.

Yet the one thing every girl needs in the summer is a pair of fabulous looking feet particularly since its the season for SANDALS.

Rain or shine, neat feet and beautifully painted toes, like great underwear, make you feel feminine and they are essential for you if you want to look good on the beach or in a pair of strappy evening shoes.

    SOAK YOUR FEET

During winter months when humidity is low skin dries out more rapidly, feet can get so dry they peel or crack. Whilst there are plenty of lotions and prescription medications that work wonders, I find some home remedies which are inexpensive and can be just as effective.

To soften super dry areas, soak your feet in LISTERINE ANTISEPTIC MOUTHWASH (yes you read correctly, listerine) once or twice a week.

    *  Mix one part Listerine with two parts warm water and soak your feet 15-20 minutes.

    *  Then apply a moisturizer like EUCERIN PLUS INTENSIVE FOOT CREAM.

    *  In addition to skin sloughing benzoic acid, Listerine contains ethanol, which kills bacteria, fungi and germs that can lead to athlete’s foot.

    EXFOLIATE

Exfoliating your feet at least once a week will keep them looking and feeling smoother for the Summer.

Dry skin leads to cracked heels and calluses, to prevent, exfoliate weekly.

My top tip would be look for products with glycolic acid which is a natural exfoliator found naturally in sugar cane and grape, this will help you get rid of surface dry skin cells making them look and feel smoother, plus your moisturizer will be more effective when you slough off flaky skin first.

    THE POWER OF MOISTURISER

Potentially the most important tip I can give you is to moisturise, its simple to do and provides great results.

We often tend to forget that our feet need just as much moisture as the rest of our body – if not more! Now is the time to really spoil them.

Your heels are prone to over use and as a result, they tend to dry out more easily than the rest of your foot.

The heel is also protected by thicker skin which means that its less penetrable  and it will take a little more effort to lock the  moisture in.

The ideal time to moisturise your feet is after a bath or shower as the clean skin will absorb and retain more moisture, as an extra treat for your feet use coconut oil. Keeping some extra coconut oil handy and your feet will be happy, this oil has the ability to moisturise dry, rough skin. It nurtures skin cells and removes impurities in the skin, leave it on overnight and wear cotton socks and you will wake up with soft beautiful feet.

    APPLY A MASK

In the same way that masks can exfoliate and moisturise the skin on our face, a foot mask can make winter feet look sandal ready.

A great home remedy that I find works wonders is

    *  Mix together 4 tablespoons of honey with a quarter cup of sour cream and a few drops of lemon juice.

    *  Sit on the edge of your bathtub or shower, apply mixture to your feet, focusing on the top of your foot and toes along with ankles and heels.

    *  Let set for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

    CLIP TOENAILS PROPERLY

Our body can sometimes be really annoying, there is so much you need to do to take care of it so it is normal that you forget doing certain things!

Cutting or trimming your nails is one of those things, yes I know its a boring job and sometimes we just let them grow as they like. This I can reassure you is the wrong way of thinking, neglecting your toes nails or not clipping them correctly can lead to ingrown toenails (sore and unsightly) also increasing your chances of an infection as toenails are a perfect way to collect bacteria as your feet are constantly in shoes and socks.

Always clip your toenails straight across and then file them to your desired shape on average once a week.

Pretty nails are always a sign of good hygiene, remember the last time when you saw some ugly nails and what was your initial thought??

    BOLD POLISH COLOURS

Red or pink polish on your toes look lovely, my favourite gift would have to be O.P.I No Stopping Meow Infinite Shine, why not have some fun and switch to a bolder colour, funky hues are in for Summer 2016!

So go ahead opt for a polish in a vibrant coral , turquoise or even purple and you’ll be sure to have the trendiest toes!

    QUICK FIX

I know in the past I used to loathe it when I had spent time giving myself a pedicure, and the second I stepped onto the beach the shine was worn down on my polish!!

Well don’t fret anymore, I am not suggesting you skip the beach, yet what to do is swipe a layer of clear coat on over the top off your colour after your shower and you have dried off.

Believe me your polish will go from matte to shiny again, I recommend SECHE VITE TOP COAT £10.95, this top coat offers your nails shine like no other and will prolong the life out of your Pedi.

    KEEP BLISTERS AT BAY

Blisters strike more often in hot weather, they are caused by rubbing especially between the toes especially if you are wearing flip flops with “thongs”.

Always try and break in any new or strappy sandals for a couple of hours at a time in the weeks leading up to your holiday or any occasion you expect to wear them all day to help prevent blisters.

In my case I find this extremely difficult as I am a shoe size 3, so finding shoes in my size always causes a headache so I am normally last minute and don’t have the luxury of breaking shoes in. So if like myself and you get caught out, keep your blisters clean and dry and cover them with COMPEED until healed.

FEET GET LITTLE CARE COMPARED TO OTHER PARTS OF YOUR BODY SUCH AS YOUR HANDS AND FACE.

HEALTHY FEET ARE VITAL TO OUR OVERALL HEALTH SO DONT NEGLECT THEM!

  4. LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY GLAMOUR

Comments Off on LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY GLAMOUR

    LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY GLAMOUR

Many people struggle with their summer holiday beauty look, whether you’re jetting off to hang out in that new Ibiza lounge bar that everyone seems to be talking about or preparing to go Greek Island hopping for a couple of weeks with your other half, you will want to look and feel your most glamorous on holiday.

Summer make-up is all about using as little product as possible to enhance your features and create that flawless appearance. You don’t want to be sweating and feeling bogged down with cosmetics melting on your face.

Here I have tips for last minute holiday glamour to create a knockout look that can be achieved without access to your entire makeup collection.

    TAKE TIME TO PRIME

The key to long lasting foundation and colour is the most commonly skipped step :- PRIMER!!

Seriously the stuff works, you wont regret the few seconds it takes to apply a primer which goes on after moisturizer but before face make up.

In Summer, primers are definitely the way to go as they don’t feel heavy on the skin and they really help to hold your makeup in place.

I love Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer SPF 30

Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer is ideal for holidays as you have the high protection of the SPF to protect your skin from the UV rays whilst it also smooth’s fine lines, brightens the complexion and evens out the skin texture.

    BRONZER

I love a bit of bronzer as it really does wonders for a fresh summer look, I find it not only gives me that sun kissed look it also makes my eyes brighter and my teeth whiter, you have to admit everyone looks better with a little warmth added to your skin.

Although I am not talking TOWIE,to keep the results looking fresh and natural, I recommend applying the bronzer just to the high points of your face, where the sun would naturally hit you so :- forehead, cheekbones, chin and nose.

I find powder bronzers are the easiest to apply, look for ones with varying shades as they blend together for the most authentic -looking results.

    YSL ‘S TOUCHE ECLAT

Once your skin is protected from the sun, a great lightweight but yet gives excellent coverage is YSL Touche Eclat, this wonder of a product hides dark circles and covers any blemishes.

I find this product easy to blend and you will not feel like you are wearing anything at all. Also it takes up no room in your makeup bag!

    CHEEKS

If you want to add some colour to your cheeks, choose something that has a creamy finish as this will look like a natural flush in the sun.

I absolutely love Benefits new Benebalm  which is a tinted lip balm take on their top selling Benetint Liquid. This gem is a multi tasking product you can use not only on your cheeks for a dewy pop of colour you can also use on your lips to enhance the shade and keep them moisturised through the air conditioning and sun.

    L’OREAL MANGA PUNKY MASCARA

L’Oréal has given its mascara a make over with new aqua blue and turquoise versions !!

I am beyond excited with having extremely fair eyelashes and brows ( actually “fair” would determine some depth of colour I actually have WHITE eyelashes and brows) any how all year round every 6-9 weeks I get my lashes and brows tinted to give my face definition but what I lack is the thickness and volume, so on holiday these swimming pool shades are a hot summer trend, that also look great on bronzed skin.

You can wear as an all over mascara or just on lash tips over black for a flash of colour, especially if you are not giving up a nude lip, try a swoosh of colour on lashes instead.

    MAC LADY DANGER LIPSTICK

Yes it is terribly predictable for all those that know me, that I would include a red lippie to my list! Yet I promise you there is a real good reason.

Ok, when luggage space is tight (when is it not) and you just cant be bothered to slap on a full face there is no other product that will simply lift your holiday look from lazy day to evening out.

This very bright red is my recent favourite but truth be told I could have easily picked KATE MOSS for RIMMEL in 01.

    STOP SHINE AND ADD GLOW

A slick T-Zone instantly screams the message “I’m hot” and I don’t mean in the lyrics of – “Don’t ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me”

To eliminate unslightly shine in seconds nothing beats blotting papers, they are cheap and easy, literally you just press and go, so if you need to perk up your makeup  these papers are your key.

  5. THE LOW DOWN ON LASER PART TWO

Comments Off on THE LOW DOWN ON LASER PART TWO

THE LOW DOWN ON LASER AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

    STAY OUT OF THE SUN

Immediately following your treatment and for several weeks afterwards you should avoid unprotected sun exposure as otherwise you risk the chance of pigment problems in the treatment areas and other adverse effects.

After the treatment , you are more prone to sunburn so you need to be extra careful – shirts and cover-up’s are key for this.

Listen sunscreen should be your BFF in general , but definitely use it after your treatment!! Your skin will be sensitive even if it doesn’t feel like it is and you really need to protect it as much as possible.

Even fake tan should not be worn on the days before treatment and if like myself and you are a white tornado and feel the need of help from the bottle (tan bottle that is) ensure all evidence is completely gone on the day of your treatment, as the light energy being used can not tell if the pigment on the skin is real or fake and a burn is possible.

DO NOT THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS, EITHER!

EMBRACE THE INDOORS FOR A WHILE

YOU MUST SHAVE THE AREA YOU ARE GETTING TREATED

Please do not proceed to come in with your hairy self, this isn’t like waxing and you don’t need to grow your unwanted hair out before hand.

On that note, you can not come in for IPL hair removal if you have had a wax recently as the hairs have been removed from the root and remember the IPL targets the PIGMENT of the hair therefore the hair follicle actually has to be there in order for this to work.

The best thing you can do is shave a day before your appointment.

MUST NOT WAX OR PLUCK AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Shaving is completely fine as shaving just cuts the hair so that the hair follicle is not being tampered with.

Please put down those tweezers , pulling hair from the roots after your treatment hinders the process and stimulates regrowth.

    DOES IT HURT?

I will be real with you the treatment itself is not particularly relaxing. Every time the IPL hand applicator is applied and fired up it feels like someone is snapping you with a rubber band. Sounds super right?? Believe me the long term results should be worth the half hour of pain.

CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT IF PREGRANT?

Your belly is getting bigger and you can barely see your legs, let alone shave them!

Yet unfortunately any Laser/IPL  hair removal treatments can not be carried out if you are pregnant as there are no studies that evaluate the safety of IPL hair removal during the pregnancy due to the lack of information about the effect on the fetus.

COST – IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BREAK THE BANK

Laser/IPL hair removal treatments do not have to break the bank you will find the prices vary from city to city, region to region. I would highly recommend though you find a provider that is good and reputable and don’t skimp on price because that is when you hear about problems and complications – no one wants any issues.

In most cases the smaller the surface area to be treated, the lower the treatment cost.

    Examples of individual treatment cost

    Upper lip  –  £35

    Bikini line  –  £65

    Full legs  –  £250

These prices are based on single treatments and a course is recommended. You do find a course is better value and can be paid in installments.

IMPORTANT QUESTION IS IT WORTH IT?

A thousand times YES , in my humble opinion.

Laser/IPL does not guarantee to remove 100% of your unwanted hair but the few stragglers that do grow back are pretty much unnoticeable.

Basically I feel enduring IPL hair removal equals freedom from the STUBBLE STRUGGLE!

  6. THE LOW DOWN ON LASER PART ONE

Comments Off on THE LOW DOWN ON LASER PART ONE

THE LOW DOWN ON LASER EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We all have unwanted hair that we remove every few weeks …… well look we ALL can be lazy and most of the times it can be a struggle going out of your way when you are busy, just to remove some hair.

Whether its on your face, arms legs or anywhere for that matter HAIR REMOVAL is part of our weekly routines, some thing we are so used to that we have forgotten what it feels like going au naturel!

    Until now!!

So if you are looking for a more permanent solution for your unwanted hair woes, IPL hair removal could be the best treatment for you.

    WHAT IS LASER/IPL

Laser  –  Is a beam of light that is aimed at certain sections of the skin, destroying the hair bulb itself meaning the area which the hair begins to grow from fails to do so. So no new hair!

IPL  –  Stands for intense pulse light and unlike laser, the light generated from IPL  uses a broad spectrum or waveband of light, normally up to 1200nm wavelength. The difference between IPL and Laser is the wavelength energy times and the time you are exposed can be set to suit you, your skin type, hair colour and hair texture, to get the best possible treatment outcome to meet the clients needs.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

The technology uses a treatment called Intense Pulse Light (IPL) which is a broadband of light, the light on entering the skin will only have an effect when it is absorbed and converted into heat.

The light is absorbed by the melanin, which is the pigment found in the hair which gives the hair its colour.

When the light is attracted to the melanin the energy is converted into heat, travels down the hair follicle where it will heat the follicle to 70 c and ultimately destroys or damages the cells to achieve hair reduction.

Therefore, the hair MUST have colour for the IPL  hair reduction to be successful. Yes there are a variety of different IPL systems which work on different skin and hair colour with SIRIUS by ELLIPSE being one of them.

Yet best results are found on clients with light coloured skin with dark thick hair as EUMELANIN is present in hair that is brown, brownish-black or black and actively absorbs the light produced by an Ellipse applicator.

Whereas PHEOMELANIN which is present in blonde and red hair doesn’t absorb the light and therefore is not recommended for hair reduction.

    HAIR COLOUR MATTERS

Before deciding to undergo IPL hair removal you must determine whether you are a suitable client.

Clients with black hair will find the treatment most effective due to the large concentration of melanin found in the hair, which will give an optimal absorption of light energy to be converted into heat. Explaining why clients with blonde, white, red or grey hair can not be treated as effectively due to the lack of melanin found in the hair.

Now darker skinned and naturally tanned clients can be treated although the therapist will determine this and lower the settings on the energy being used to avoid the heat solely generating on the skin and not into the hair follicle, resulting on a unsatisfying result and possibility a burn.

Ideal client to treat is fair skinned with dark hair.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WOULD BE REQUIRED?

All areas of the body and face can be treated, initially preferred by women IPL is now used by both sexes. The 5 most common areas for women and men are as follows.

    Women

    1  –  Upper lip

    2  –  Underarms

    3  –  Stomach

    4  –  Bikini line

    5  –  Legs

    Men

    1  –  Side burns

    2  –  Back

    3  –  Stomach

    4  –  Arms

    5  –  Buttocks

On average clients will require at least 6-8 treatments with 4-6 week intervals in-between, with possible maintenance sessions once or twice a year.

The reason for this is the hair grows in 3 different stages, with IPL it can only target the hair that is in the ANAGEN STAGE (active stage). At any one time 90% of follicles will be in this stage, so a course of treatments is needed to make sure that all follicles are destroyed so that they will produce no more hair.

    HOW LONG IS EACH TREATMENT?

It all depends on the area you are having treated, underarms and bikini lines tend to be quick say 20minutes, but other areas like the legs (1hour) or back can take a little longer.

On consultation your therapist will take you through what to expect and how long you would require per treatment.

For further details call Beauty Haven 02890 666628 and our therapists will be happy to discuss any further questions you may have,
